myFavouriteGarage.com throws its support behind motor industry code campaign

Independent vehicle service and mechanical repair network myFavouriteGarage.com is putting its full weight behind the current campaign to encourage service garages to sign up to industry quality programmes such as the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair.

The decision to do so is part of its programme to build services to fleet customers.

myFavouriteGarage.com network member John Tullett, of West Dulwich Service Station, has been on national TV as part of the current campaign to promote the Code, backed by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and government watchdog Consumer Focus.

myFavouriteGarage.com’s management has contacted all its members asking them to sign up to the Code, or to other recognised, quality-focused industry schemes, if they have not already done so.

myFavouriteGarage.com has told members it is making changes to the network’s structure over the next few months. Those who sign up to the Code (or alternatively hold current BSI Kitemark or MVRA registration, or are members of other recognised quality initiatives) and who meet myFavouriteGarage.com’s new assessment criteria relating to facilities, training and technical abilities, will have access to an enhanced package of support to help them build their business.

Service garages applying to join the network for the first time will also have to sign up to one of these schemes, and to meet the assessment criteria.

myFavouriteGarage.com director Ian James said: “We expect to direct over £1m of business from fleets to our members during 2009, and we plan to develop our fleet work still further.

“Our commitment to the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair, and to providing high standards that have been assessed against a range of criteria, is part of our programme to ensure that myFavouriteGarage.com can offer consistent levels of service right across the country.”
