We mentioned Hazvalue in the last issue, but we have more details to share following ongoing discussions.
Hazvalue managing director Paul Rudenko says: “The Hazvalue website is like an e-Bay for waste - businesses can simply list their recyclable and reusable materials in their account, and specialist businesses will place their bids for them.
“A growing range of materials have a re-sale value, and even those which do not may well be taken away for free or at a cheaper rate than that charged by a general waste contractor.”
The key thing is for garages to segregate their waste, but most will have been doing this for several years in line with the relevant waste legislation.
All the specialist recycling and waste businesses eligible to bid for materials on the Hazvalue site are registered with the Environment Agency, so garages can be sure that they are selling to businesses which are compliant with relevant legislation. Additionally, their individual credentials can be reviewed on the site.
With the cost of sending waste materials to landfill rising steadily, this is an ideal way for members to boost both their environmental credentials and their bottom line.
Paul Rudenko said: “We have worked out a special pricing structure for myFavouriteGarage.com members that we think will work well.
“Five transactions in a month, with a total value of £300, would result in a fee of £7.50 (ie £300 x 2.5%), which represents a saving of £17.50 compared to our standard minimum transaction fees, which would be 5 x £5 (ie £25).
“For three transactions in a month with a total value of £125, the Hazvalue minimum fee of £5 would apply (£125 x 2.5% = £3.13) representing a saving of £10 compared to the standard minimum transaction fees of 3 x £5, ie £15). No transactions in a month means no fee!”
Members who sign up by 30th January can enjoy a fee-free trial period for all transactions up to 28th February - so there is no reason at all not to try Hazvalue!
With the resale value of old batteries currently running at around £330 per tonne, myFavouriteGarage.com members have a lot to gain by using Hazvalue to dispose of waste.
